Hydroponic Systems and Results
(Updated Sunday, September 18, 2005 )

In the greenhouse, I plan to try many different methods of hydroponic food production. The goal is to combine methods and species that will flourish throughout as much of the year as possible. Below, you will find links to individual systems I have built, and the successes and failures encountered with them.
AEROPONICS - Here is a home-brew unit built for growing lettuce and leafy greens vertically on a wall.
DRIP-RECOVERY - This is a system for vines like cucumbers, tomatoes, and sweet bell peppers.
I'm hoping to dabble with water culture, flood and drain, and gravel culture in the Spring of 2003. Unfortunately, it's nearing the Winter Solstice, and our available sunlight is well below the amount plants need to thrive. Because we are lacking this important ingredient to vigorous plant growth, we're putting future projects on "hold" until we can get more natural light.
