Yellowstone and the Tetons, 2008 - Page 2

We made our way up to Yellowstone National Park and stayed in Cody, Wyoming for two nights.  After catching the Yellowstone Jazz Festival (next to our hotel), we had a really good meal at Adriano's Italian Restaurant and then retired for the night.

The next morning, we left Cody heading north on WYO-120, and then turned west toward Yellowstone on WYO-296. (Chief Joseph Scenic Byway)  WOW!  It wasn't part of the park, but it could have been!  Gorgeous!  Here's a shot of Anna and Frits as we are nearing Dead Indian Pass...

At the top of the pass, we had great views almost to ourselves.  Just a couple other cars stopped while we were there, and the wildlife was really friendly...

We entered Yellowstone via the North-East entrance, near Cooke City, Montana.  As we drove along the Lamar River, the views were breathtaking.  Standing on this sandbar in the middle of the river, bison off in the distance, you can't help but be overcome with the miracle of our existence.  Is the Earth just a freak of the universe, or painted by the hand of God?  Stand here and ask yourself that, as the water runs by and the eagles soar overhead...

After plenty of snow and a wet spring, flowers were everywhere!
